In conjunction with Granny Gear Productions, Bike magazine announces the Mike Vihon Memorial 24-Hour Industry Cup, on April 24-25, 2004 in Temecula, California.
Riders do not have to be associated with the bike world to race--they can come from anywhere in the outdoor recreation industry. The entry fee is $700 for a five-person industry team, and 50 percent of the proceeds will benefit a charity of the winner's choice.
Come join us for the fun, camaraderie and adventure that the 24-hour race format is famous for, plus it's all for a good cause. To register a team and to read more on the race, please visit: grannygear.com/RIP/vihon.shtml.

For some background on the event and Mike Vihon, here is a note from Bike's Associate Publisher, Derek DeJonge:
As someone who is close to the cycling industry, you may have heard about the tragic loss last year of Mike Vihon, a sales associate and much-loved part of the team here at Bike. Mike's good nature and unbridled enthusiasm for mountain biking infected everyone he met.
Mike's passing has reminded us how fleeting our time can be and how important it is to make the most of what time we have together, sharing experiences with friends, riding great trails and just generally enjoying life. Plans were in the works, prior to Mike's passing, for Bike to host an Industry Cup Race at the 24 Hours of Temecula, a charity race with a cool twist where all proceeds would go to a charity of the winning team's choice. Knowing how much Mike enjoyed riding and racing his bike, it seemed all too fitting to name the Industry Challenge in his honor.
Bike magazine cordially invites you to attend the Mike Vihon Memorial 24-Hour Industry Cup at the 2004 24 Hours of Temecula. As someone who works day-in, day-out as part of the outdoor recreation industry, we here at Bike want to remind you "it IS all about the ride."
Join us for the fun, camaraderie and adventure that Granny Gear's 24-hour races are famous for. Do it to give yourself and your cohorts an excuse to get out and play. Do it to build morale, teamwork and closer bonds with your workmates. Do it to raise money for a good cause. Do it to honor the enthusiastic, fun-loving, gregarious spark that is in us all, the spark exemplified by Mike Vihon that keeps him in our memory. Let's race!
Thanks, DJ
