Kona rider Fabian Barel (France) pulled a flawless run down the Les Gets downhill course and patiently watched as the remaining competitors attempted to better his time of 2 minutes and 40 seconds. After 30 riders all clocked-in slower, only one was left to dethrone him: Great Britain's Steve Peat. The Orange Bikes pro blasted down the course with superior split times and appeared to be the strongman of the day. But moments from the finish, Peat clipped a pedal, slid and hit the ground. He was back on the bike in no time, but it wasn't enough. The rainbow jersey went to local boy of the Les Gets region Fabian Barel.
