You race downhill and mountain cross. You spend hundreds of dollars upgrading your bike parts, but you are still running a motocross helmet that tips the scale (and your head) at five pounds--or worse you aren't using a full-face helmet at all. There's a problem. The compromise between performance, weight and safety is balanced in many different ways when it comes to racing, and Troy Lee Designs has a balance that may work for you.
The D2 composite helmet weighs 2.55 pounds and is made with Kevlar and carbon fiber reinforcements to get maximum protection with minimal amount of bulk. The D2 helmets meet or exceed the CPSC, ASTM and CE standards and still look fast. The D2 has four "flow through" intake vents to keep you cool by directing air through your lid. The padding is removable and washable to keep moto-odors under control during the race season. The D2 comes in five custom graphic schemes. The Torch style is available in white with red flames or black with blue flames. The Hot Rod style is flat black with custom pin-striping and a chrome visor and the S.E. Composite style comes in bare carbon with red or blue lightning bolts.
