With the advent of wider tires with beefier sidewalls and wider, beefier rims for the aforementioned beefier tires, and beefier inner tubes to tie the whole room together, changing a tire can be a chore with run of the mill tire levers.
Thankfully, Park has introduced heavy-duty, shop quality tire irons. The TL-5s are eight inches long for plenty of leverage and are made of forged steel and nickel-plated for added durability. Their smooth finish fits in your hand comfortably and a specially designed tip is made to engage tire beads so you can handle all that beef with just two levers instead of the usual three. While these are oversized levers, their relatively compact nature allows them to be easily stored in a hydration pack in case your beefy meats deflate during a ride, making the TL-5s both practical and versatile. —Ron Ige
