Timbuk2 has been making bags for bike messengers since 1989, but some students and young professionals also like the style because it offers easy access to gear and is useful when commuting on bikes.
The Graphic Messenger Bag is made with 840 ballistic nylon, Timbuk2's newest fabric designed with a tight weave for durability. You can customize a bag by using the "build your own bag" feature at www.timbuk2.com, which takes you through the necessary steps to design your bag. Start by picking one of 16 different graphics for the center panel, which is made of waterproof 12-ounce vinyl, the same material used for the lining of the bag. Then choose either the small or medium size and a side-panel color. As you pick a color, a picture of the bag you're designing immediately changes to that color on the screen so you can see how different color/graphic combinations look before ordering the one that best suits you.

The bag features a buckle on the shoulder strap to adjust where the bag sits on your back. There's also a cross-strap that keeps the bag against your body so it doesn't bounce around while you're walking or riding. To keep you organized, there are three zipper pockets inside as well as additional storage for a cell phone, pens and other small items. Also available are accessories that can be added to the strap such as an iPod/PDA case, cell-phone holster, strap pad, radio holster and strap pouch.--Christopher Schulz
