In the past, sunglasses with interchangeable lenses seemed to work well on the trail, but head into town and everyone assumed you were on your way to a techno party. Italy-based Rudy Project solved this problem with its latest installment for the interchangeable lens eyewear marketplace. The Graal FYOLs are a nice-looking, functional pair of shades you co uld wear on the trail or to your neighbor’s barbeque without feeling like you’re sticking out like a male chauvinist at Lilith Fair.
They come in six frame color choices and three sets of lenses are included in the package. All models include one set of transparent lenses and one set of orange lenses; the third set depends on the frames you choose. The lens changing mechanism is the same pivot that actuates the glasses’ arms and it’s hidden on the inside of the frame. The frames are made of a durable, plastic compound called Grilamid. On top of it all, you get a burly carrying case and smooth lens sleeves to ha ul your goods around in when the sun’s not out. —Pat Corran
