There’s no denying it, the big booty is in. The Jennifer Lopez-style rear is definitely getting its 15 minutes of fame, but if there’s one place this fad has not made its mark, it’s on the seat of a bicycle. Most women who ride (big or small) know all too well of the post-ride, posterior sore. We hop on bikes designed for men, with narrow saddles made for them, and we think it’s not going to hurt?
A good cure is Titec’s Nixi women’s saddle. Available with titanium seat rails or less-expensive chromoly rails, it’s been engineered specifically for a woman’s build. Titec’s patented “Women’s Relief Zone” provides cushion where we need it: below the sit bones and through the saddle’s nose. The rear width at 6.25 inches is a good inch to inch-and-a-half wider than most men’s models, designed to fit a wider pelvis. The synthetic leather cover is available in an eye-catching “metallic deep purple” for the high-end saddle or a sleek black in the chromoly-railed model, keeping women riders fashionable even as the trends change. —Sarah Smith
