For 2004, Redline has added a second singlespeed hardtail to their line-the Mono-Cog Flight. The Mono-Cog Flight features a lightweight U6 aluminum frame and fork with both universal disc brake mounts and cantilever studs front and rear. Other niceties include a Ritchey seatpost, bar and stem, an FSA bashguard, and Avid Speed Dial/Single Digit 5 brakes. There are certainly sexier and lighter singlespeeds out there, but at $600, you can save your Pabst dollars and always upgrade over time. Heck, I'm just happy to see another affordable, readily available singlespeed on the market. The Mono-Cog Flight is available in 15, 17 and 19-inch sizes.
Airborne, the industry leader in affordable Titanium, is expanding their line for '04 with the Marauder. The 7005 Aluminum frame boasts an adjustable 3 to 5 inches of rear travel, bearings on all pivots, and since it's made by our friends in Vietnam, the price is about half of its competitors. The Marauder should be available by mid-January.--Dain Zaffke
