TESTED: Yakima HitchFork Rack and King Cobra Mounts
Yakima HitchFork Rack and King Cobra Mounts
The HitchFork works well with the King Cobra mounts. However, they did take some extra adjustment to make sure they didn't interfere with the Chevy Suburban it was mounted to when the rack folds close. HitchForks come out of the box with BOA fork mounts, so if you feel the urge to customize your application, check with Yakima first or proceed with caution to make sure you have the necessary vehicle clearance when the rack folds.
Once mounted and adjusted, the HitchFork/King Cobra combo worked great. The standout feature on the King Cobra tray is the locking tie-down that also secures bikes from the middle of the frame. A cable with optional key lock wraps around a frame member, protecting bikes from theft and any accidental release of the front or rear securing systems. Three times is the charm, and while I usually glance nervously over my shoulder every few minutes to check the bikes on my hitch, I felt safe keeping my eyes on the road with the three-point King Cobra system.
