Previewed: Scott USA’s 2010 Mountain Bike Line-Up
Scott recently debuted a few new additions to its growing family of full-suspension bikes in its hometown of Sun Valley, Idaho.

The Voltage FR is the most notable addition, and its name hints at the new bike’s intentions. The “Voltage” is Scott’s longstanding dirt-jump/slopestyle hardtail, ridden by pros like Lance McDermott and Timo Pritzel. For burlier slopestyle courses like Whistler’s Crankworx, however, McDermott rode a custom chopped-down Gambler. Next year, however, Scott will have a production bike for such courses.
The Voltage FR slides between Scott’s Ransom all-mountain bike and its Gambler DH bike. Travel can be switched between 160 and 180 millimeters by changing the rear shock’s mountain position.
Scott will sell two models of the bike, starting with the more affordable Voltage FR 20, which costs $2,100. The higher-end Voltage FR 10 comes in at $3,500.
Scott has also officially jumped on the 29er train with the Scale 29er. The mid-level aluminum cross-country rig will retail for $1,600 with a RockShox Reba SL fork and a mix of Shimano Deore and XT components.
The company is also making a small change to the Spark and Genius lines with the addition of its new Twinlock handlebar-mount suspension toggle. The switch locks out the front and rear shocks simultaneously. On the longer-travel Genius, which has three travel settings (full travel, 100-millimeters and locked out) the Twinlock only locks out the fork when the rider completely locks out the rear.
Scott also announced it will lower its bike prices across the board to be more competitive with similarly spec’d bikes from other manufacturers.
