Gary Perkin—aka “Flipper”—is the consummate gentleman. And a cold-hearted assassin with a camera. You’ll never see Gary in the woods. His Ninja skills are beyond blackbelt. I’m not sure how he learned them, as his formal martial arts training was aboard a guided-missile frigate for the South African Navy. Somehow, he managed to convince them to let him use a camera to document missile tests. Once discharged, he bounced about a bit before rediscovering photography, and eventually turned to documenting bicycle racing. In the heyday of Honda’s DH program, Gary was their lensman. Since their demise, he retains Specialized and the UCI on his exclusive list of clients. Gary’s work can be seen online at www.flipper.co.za.
