Photos: Victor Lucas Mountain Bike Photo Gallery

Victor Lucas. Prolific doesn't even begin to describe this Irishman. Although, in truth, I'm not certain as to the purity of his Irish blood—he travels so damn much that he's got to be at least half gypsy. Soft-spoken and unassuming, but as quick and sharp with his camera as Zorro ever was with his sword, that's Victor. And the ultimate "guerrilla" photographer—give this man a pinhole camera and he'll likely get cover shots every time. Like the rest of us, Victor is self-taught as a photographer, although he did attend Art College in Dublin, where he "discovered the arty side of photography" while studying design. But rather than shoot fine art, he persisted in focusing his lens on the action sports he enjoyed doing in his spare time: motocross, mountain biking and snowboarding. It's hard to imagine Victor with a desk job, but a 9-to-5 design position was keeping the lights on until he got his first photo published in Dirt in 2001. "I've been at it ever since," he says. The work he's put up here is but the tip of the iceberg. The rest can be seen online at www.victorlucas.com.
