Sven Martin. 'Complex' is the easiest description of Sven's character. A legendary skateboarder who originally hails from South Africa, Sven's a bit new on the World Cup scene, but an old hand at the same time. As a kid, he learned to shoot from his father, a professional photographer, and would snap away on trips in the African bush. A prolific skater in South Africa, he was eventually lured into downhill mountain biking by his wife, Anka, where he quickly rose to the World Cup level. He retired from full-time racing at the end of 2007 to focus on his photography. Prior to that, it wasn't uncommon to see Sven taking photos from the side of the track, still wearing his race kit. Since then, he's evolved into as fierce of a shooter as he was a competitor, with an eye focused on getting "the" shot, whether it's bike racing or another of his interests. In cycling, his work has graced the pages of Dirt, Bike, Decline and littermag.com.
