An extra day of dry helped minimize muddy conditions, but the Bromont was greasy enough to challenge even the most experiences pros. In the end, Rachel Atherton remained dominant while Sam Hill used the opportunity to show off his mud-riding skills.

Sunshine all weekend dried out the muddy Mont Sainte Anne cross-country course, but a dousing of rain the night before the race kept the riding technical and everyone on their toes. Marie Helene Premont and Julien Absalon maintained their winning efforts against a field that's somewhat preoccupied with the Olympics just around the corner next month.

Rachel Atherton and Greg Minnaar turn it up for the first North American World Cup event of 2008, winning the downhil events. The rain held off just enough the night before the big event to dry out the course and improve traction for the best downhill competiors in the world.

The Mount Snow, Vermont Nationals also saw the pros challenge each other on a super-D course. Beginning with a running Le Mans mass start, a field of aggressive XC competitors dove down the mountain and through the woods chasing after yet another national title.

The Short track. In other words: A suffer fest where you’re either on the gas or getting pulled. And even if you're on the gas, you might get pulled. It's just that kind of race--20 minutes of being deeeeep in the pain cave. Plus one lap. It's a great way to find out what you're made of.

Melissa Buhl added another National title to her heap of accomplishments for the weekend while Geritt Beytagh snuck up on Cody Warren to claim the men's title on a fresh downhill and under the constant threat of rain.

The US National XC Championships were held on July 19th at Mt. Snow, Vermont. Adam Craig and Mary McConneloug gave it 100% to add more national titles to their names and confidence to their game as they both head abroad for the Olympics next month.

Last month Salsa Cycles held their first-ever Sol Session, which was a combination product release, Salsa HQ tour and camping/riding trip all rolled into one. The highlight of the trip was taking a Western Spirits guided trip through the Chequamegon-area mountain bike trails on the new Salsa bikes.

GT Bicycles chose to host their 2009 product release in Alpine resort town of Livigno, Italy. Sitting between 5,000 and 8,000 feet in altitude, Livigno offers even the fittest riders ample challenge, but the trails are as buff as they come and the views more spectacular than you can imagine, so we caught a shuttle, gondola or hunkered down in granny gear every chance we got to savor the goods.
