Bike’s Test Issue Whistler Photo Gallery

Photos: Morgan Meredith

Despite rain, despite snow, despite the demands of building nearly 100 bikes, the first week of testing for Bike’s inaugural test issue is in the books. For six days, a dozen riders ripped hot laps up and down Whistler’s Bike Park, and hit the spin cycle on the town’s Lost Lake trails to test trail bikes.

Most days were cold, muddy and wet, which is exactly what we hoped for. Brakes got a work out, so did tires and suspension. With the Bike Park closed to the public for the season, we were able to repeatedly hit long, uninterrupted runs on Freight Train, A-Line, Schleyer, Whistler Downhill and other classic runs. (Aside from our park-provided guide, the only other riders on the whole mountain were Thomas Vanderham and Brendan Fairclough, who where shooting a segment for Anthill Films “Follow Me.”) Out on the Lost Lake trails, test riders put 25 of next year’s top trail bikes through the paces on a 2.5-mile loop that combined some rocky climbs, ladder bridges, rock gardens and rooty descents.

Check out the photos below, and stay tuned for the next report. Testing of freeride and all-mountain bikes has already begun.
