Fifty Trails
Bikes today are better than ever. Same goes for gloves, shorts, packs and sunglasses. But there is more to riding than just gear. Remove trails from the equation and we'd be left shaving our legs and riding road bikes. Trails are the lifeblood of this sport, so to start the new season right, we present the first Bike magazine Trail Guide—a springboard for seeking new trails in each of the 50 states. We sought not the most epic, not the longest or steepest or craziest trails, but those that represent the character and flavor of each state. Every trail has a story to tell, and riders who have worked hard to maintain it. The trails are there, the season is fresh. Go ride.
The Other Side of Nowhere
Deposited by floatplane in the rugged interior of British Columbia’s Chilcotin Mountains, four intrepid riders set out to pioneer an epic 100-mile journey back to civilization. The route they aimed to follow has never been attempted on bike, and parts of it have seen little traffic since gold miners a century ago. With no support, no tent and meager rations, they test their will in the vast wild between the middle of nowhere and home. By Margus Riga
The Great Debate
What’s with these 29-inch wheels? People either can’t get off them or can’t get far enough away from them. Despite several scientific studies and the accumulation of untold terabytes’ worth of message-board flame wars, the debate over wheel size—29-inch or 26-inch—continues to rage. We dispatched Bike magazine's crack research scientists to settle the score. Read on for the Ultimate Wheel-Size Shootout.

I would like to order 5 more copies of this month's magazine but I can't find any at the stores. They are all sold out. My son wrote several of the Trail Articles and I'd love to have some extra copies. How can I get 5 more of this month's magazine? Our son's name is Jason Shueh. Thank you, Sarah Odegaard

Hey,
I just sent in a subscription card, because I finally found a new issue at the store, after 3 freekin months of the December issue sitting on the shelves. Any way my point is, is that I missed the March issue and was wondering if you could tell me what Maine's (yup thats right, the frozen white wasteland, thats now an ultra soggy mud mess that smells like dog crap) trail was. That would be great. P.S. I shall jones for bike mag no more.
Thanks
