Peanut Butter Knife Fight Takes No Prisoners

News: Jordie Lunn's Jump Jam Under Wraps

Held on a perfect sunny day on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, thirty riders were on hand to compete in Jordie Lunn’s backyard ‘jam’, dubbed ‘Peanut Butter Knife Fight’. With nearly three hundred spectators, it was a fun and casual scene. Jordie Lunn changed ‘The Yard’ completely this year, and riders had a little surprise in store for them. The yard was built with a new, tricky pump track to start. The first day of practice really took its toll on the athletes. Riders needed all the key mountain bike skills for this competition...cornering, pumping and jumping. Jordie, Ryder Kasprick and Brandon Semenuk made it look easy, as they pulled from their deep bag of talent. The rest of the dirt jumpers that ride foam pits and straight jumps got schooled on the ‘squirrel catcher’.

The new DJ kids need to learn how to mountain bike! A couple picked it up by the end of the day but never had consistent runs. Ryder put together two good runs with a couple of highlights (tuck no-hander, handplant, 270 spin out of the tree-ride). Jordie rode exceptionally well despite have a couple of beers during the day. He says it keeps him loose and ready.

The final was whittled down to a 10 man ‘Super Final’ and the pressure was on. Semenuk put together a winning combo but couldn’t quite pull it off. He tricked every jump, but on the last one, he over-rotated on a 360 X up and went down hard. It was nice to see Ryder get a solid result after the crazy times he’s been through this year. Congratulations Ryder! Graham Agassiz received the Most Improved Rider award, and took home a fresh new RockShox Argyle fork. He rode super smooth and really brought some creative style this year.
