Freedom Riders is a gritty, rootsy documentary that gives a unique look into the creation of one of the first legal, purpose-built downhill trails on U.S. Forest Service land.
The film includes interviews with local riders in Jackson, Wyoming, as well as action sequences shot on the once-illegal trails and archival footage that traces the progression of freeride mountain biking.
The film will premiere during the Sea Otter Classic in Monterey, California, on April 18, at the Embassy Suites in Seaside. Following the premiere, the producers will embark on a 50-stop U.S. tour to raise money and awareness for IMBA.
"We're super excited to have IMBA as a partner for the Freedom Riders project, and given all the hard work and advocacy they put into furthering the sport of biking it's truly a natural fit," says KGB film producer Sam Pope. "The film shows how important trails are to the mountain biking community, and how a dedicated group of riders followed their passion to create history."
