Gilberto Simoni to participate in the Gran Canaria World Cup

The member of the Saunier Duval-Prodir road racing team, and winner of the Giro de Italia (in 2001 and 2003), is contemplating a move to the discipline of Mountain Bike after the ’07 Giro event.

The Italian cyclist Gilberto Simoni has confirmed his participation in the Mountain Bike World Cup, which will take place in Maspalomas (Gran Canaria) on March 17th.

Simoni´s intention is to participate in all the marathon events of the World Cup, including Gran Canaria. “The mountain bike motivates me a lot, and taking part in the Marathon World Cup is a challenge”, Simoni has stated in the media. His presence in Gran Canaria reinforces the cast of international top-level athletes, which will compete in the hard 90 km Marathon event on March 17th.
