World Cup 4X
Whew, as much fun as this 4X track is, it’s also unforgiving. Jill Kintner found out the hard way with an unfortunate crash in her final that relegated her to 3rd behind Fionn Griffiths and Anneke Beerten. Like Sam Hill taking the overall lead in the World Cup 4X series, so too did Anneke seize the lead—not sure on how many points, but look for it an exciting race in Germany: Jill doesn’t like to lose. Mio Suemasa took 4th and Johanna Patterson took 5th.
For the men, with neither Prokop nor Cedric Gracia here, it was pretty much Lopes’ race to lose. There were some fast legs to make it interesting for sure, with Guido Tschugg, Filip Polc, and Jared Graves in the house, but the final came down to Lopes, Scott Beaumont (some controversy there… in an earlier round he rode over a gate—an automatic DQ, but the officials missed it), Filip Polc, and Kamil Tatarkovic. Lopes put it in gear and dropped the rest to fight over 2nd place… It came down to Lopes, Beaumont, Polc, and Tatarkovic. Graves had a bit of an issue in an earlier round and ended up in the small final, which he won easily to take 5th.
