Here’s some big news—Fox is making a 29-inch fork. All the Fisher 2008 29ers appear to be running them. The 29-inch HiFi even has a G2 offset Fox 29-inch fork. You will be able to buy aftermarket Fox 29-inch forks in 2008. We weren’t able to ride them yet, maybe next week.
Bontrager showed off some new wheels called “Rhythm”. The wheels have asymmetrical 28mm rims that look good for all-mountain and trail riding. They come in either 26-inch or 29-inch sizes and two models—Comp and Elite. They feature 28 DT 14/15 spokes, tubeless compatibility, alloy Pro-Lock nipples, and a symmetric tirewell for increased rim strength. The Elite model features DT-Onyx-based hubs, while the Comp was simply referred to as dual-sealed.
Bontrager’s Race Lite XXX flat bar has been revised and now weighs a mere 110 grams while still passing the stringent European CEN safety tests. That’s a full 30 grams lighter than the previous model.

Bontrager Jones Dry X Tire – Available in 26 X 1.9 and 2.1 or 29 X 1.75 and 2.1 sizes; this new tire is designed by Keith Bontrager for dry conditions. It’s tubeless ready, features an aramid bead for light weight, and the 2.1-inch models feature a special abrasion-resistant casing. This tire appears aimed mostly at XC racers given its narrow-ish sizing.

Trek is shipping their Travis Brown-designed 69er Singlespeed. Travis said he’s been having Trek build him one-off singlespeeds for ten years now and this bike is a culmination of all that work. The 69er features bridgeless chain and seat stays, ZR9000 tubing, up to 2.5-inches of tire clearance, and front and rear tubeless wheels. Since it’s a singlespeed and lacks a front derailleur the seat tube is radically flared at the BB for a 40% increase in stiffness. Sliding dropouts give it an adjustable drivetrain while maintaining consistent seat and BB relationship, something Travis is very sensitive to. The dual crown Maverick fork with 24mm thru axle is ideal for a 29-inch front wheel since it resists the added leverage placed on the bike by the larger front wheel.
