Lap 8—2 minutes from the finish is where I’m snapping pics. Absalon has a strangle hold on the win; Sauser is something like 30 seconds back and not closing. Nino Schurter—U23 World Champ—is solid with 3rd place. Raol Paulissen swings by with a lock on 4rth, and then Ralf Naef trailing just far enough back that he I know he can’t take if from Raol... Adam Craig continues to eat up the competition and swings by with a tenth position—best world cup finish for an American in a looooong time! Congrats to the man from Maine!
Not sure what happened to Wells, but he disappeared after lap 6. Mike Broderick disappeared after lap 7. Jeremiah Bishop finished in 23rd looking a bit worked. JHK stuck it out to the bitter end—but he looked pretty flogged as he headed in for 30th position out of a field of 171 racers.
So that’s the official finish:
Absalon, Sauser, Schurter, Paulisson, Naef… Adam Craig in 10th. Jeremiah Bishop in 23rd, JHK in 30th. Broderick finished a lap down and Wells DNF’d.
