So it’s a raucous atmosphere at Mt Snow when the Dual Slalom starts. The racing is fast and furious, and racers of all categories have a damn fun time.
There’s not too much to report, really: Big crowds, big fun, a few spills, and lots of grins. Everyone goes home happy, for the most part. OK, there likely are a few sore losers--especially if you crashed out--but hey, that’s racing.
The women were pretty much a two-sided affair with Kathy Pruitt and Melissa Buhl walking through the preliminaries until it was chica a chica. Melissa’s still charged up off her World Championship 4X win, and showed it, taking KP in both rounds.

In the men, Chris Van Dine was back in the saddle after two injury-riddled seasons, and eager to play. He advanced all the way to the semis, eventually taking third over Ross Milan of Yeti. In the finals, it was Eric Carter--out from semi retirement--putting the hurt on Gerrit Beytagh.
Overall, it was a great time. EC taking the win was priceless--there’s not many 38 year olds out there able to still rock it with the young ‘uns!
EC putting the hurt on Gerrit Beytagh for the win.
