You've Still Got Time to Win
|
It’s week three and the Mavic Crash and Burn contest is heating up nicely. Though, I gotta tell you, winning the Mavic Deetraks wheelset is still well within your reach. We’ve got some good photo submissions to date, but you can still come from behind to take the win. Remember we’re talking about $350 worth of new wheels plus a 2-year, Mavic MP3 crash replacement warranty worth $28 in its own right.
All you have to do is post the best crash photo on our message board and we’ll be sending those goods to your door step.
The Deetraks wheelset, for all the A.D.D. kids who are just tuning in, is the more affordable “little sister” to the famed, yellow DeeMax downhill/freeride/clydesdale wheelset. It’s a stout set of hoops that takes a lot of abuse.
HOW TO POSTER YOUR PHOTO Go to the Vids/Pics button at the top of the BIKEMAG.com homepage and click it. See the link that says “Your Photos”? Just click that link, register to post photos and you’re good to go. Thousands of riders are doing it—it’s pretty simple.
THE COMPETITION SO FAR… Here’s what our readers posted on bikemag.com last week….

Biz's photo (above) is pretty damn good. A bit soft on the focus, but the crash itself is...well, the picture speaks for itself. There are times when all the body armor in the world just isn't going to help. It's hard to knock this one.
Bummer

Thobry's shot of post wreck-carnage and EMTs just sucks. I don't mean that the photo blows (composition seems fine and the image certainly leaves an impact), but the way it makes you feel? It's all dead puppies and ex-girlfriends. In a word: bummer. Hope this guy is okay. I knock on wood every time I look at this one. This is like watching a depressing French movie--you appreciate the skill it took to create the film, but you kind of wish you never went to the theater to see it. Still, you took the time to post it, so I'm acknowledging your input, Thobry. That's validation. Shrinks says that's a good thing.

Ah, that's more like it. Here's a fine crash photo that simply makes you laugh at the person who may or may not get hurt. You can't feel bad for laughing at someone who probably just got up from the crash, straightened his handlebars, and dusted the sand off his shorts. Perfect. The best aspect of this photo is that the trail looks perfectly flat and tame--why the endo? Did he try and jump off that little riser in the background? Was that the cause of the crash? I like the mystery of it all.
