22nd Annual Keyesville Classic
It’s time again for the Keyesville Classic, a mountain bike festival of epic proportions held in historic Keyesville, California. In its twenty-two years the event has had plenty of time to gather momentum, and this year’s lineup of events will not disappoint. The Classic begins Friday, March 19th at 6 P.M. at the Kern River Brewing Company, with a showing of the new film Awesome Land: Women of Dirt. Festivities will continue with events through the weekend including short track, crosscountry, downhill and observed trials. For the less sane there’s the local favorite “vintage class,” with bikes divided into two categories based on the model year (1996-1986, and ’86 and before). Vintage class racers traditionally test themselves and their bikes on the short track, cross country and downhill—not a typical day for your average antique.
For spectators and competitors between events there will be plenty of entertainment including bike films, night rides and a women’s cycling fashion show, which will highlight clothing from Harlot, Zoic and other companies who defy the ‘shrink it and pink it’ approach to women’s gear.
Events will no doubt be entertaining for participants and spectators alike. Free camping and affordable catered meals will be provided.
