Mitch's Picks
Canfield Brothers
Straight out of Layton Utah, Canfield Brothers' Formula One Freeride DH frame is goshdarn nuts looking and has 230mm of rear travel in a 12.5-pound frameset (with shock) made from 7005 aluminum. The frame has a rear suspension that mimics the rearward travel path of the front fork, enabling (in theory) the rear wheel the least amount of resistance as it rolls over obstacles. It has a four pivot, parallel linkage and weird-looking upper pulley wheel near the top of the seatstays that maintains proper chain tension. A couple of cushin' pushes on the floor felt good, real good. Canfield also makes a similar XC/trail bike with 130mm of travel called the Balance.
