BIKE magazine will be hosting the second annual BIKE Reader Poll and Video Awards to coincide with the Hyundai Sea Otter Classic, it was announced today by Ron Ige, editor of BIKE. The awards will take place the Hyatt Regency in Monterey, California, on April 16, 2005.
“Building on the success of BIKE’s inaugural awards show, we expect this year’s second annual event to be even bigger and better than ever,” Ige said. “As the mountain bike movie industry grows larger and more influential, BIKE will continue to evolve our awards show to reflect this evolution.”
BIKE’s Reader Poll and Video Awards are designed to honor the world’s most talented athletes and the industry’s finest filmmakers. Trophies will be awarded in the following categories: Best Singletrack, Best Urban Assault, Best Line, Best Air, Worst Crash, Best Male Performance, Best Female Performance and Movie of the Year. Also, a new athlete award will be added for 2005: Breakout Performer of the Year.
BIKE will also honor the best in still photography with the Photo of the Year award, selected by Photo Editor David Reddick and the magazine’s editorial staff.
In addition, BIKE readers will have the opportunity to vote for the top-5 male and top-3 female riders of the year. Voting began on January 22 and is open through March 29. Readers can vote online at www.bikemag.com or through mail-in ballots from the March issue of BIKE.
