Red Bull Illume Preview

Red Bull Illume is halfway through its submission phase and gearing up to announce the winners in May 2010. The photo contest extended the deadline for submissions until February 28 this year in hopes of drawing more images.

The contest, held previously in 2007, is the touted as the world’s largest action sport photography contest. The previous edition showcased photographs from several top mountain bike photographers, including Yorrick Carroux, Derek Frankowski, John Gibson and others.

The 10 categories for the 2010 Image Quest are culture, playground, energy, spirit, close up, wings, sequence, new creativity, experimental and illumination. The winners, chosen by a panel of expert photo editors, will be announced in May 2010.
